Abstract

The number of workers in D.I. Yogyakarta in August 2024 was 2.26 million people, an increase of 39.74 thousand people compared to August 2023. The Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) was 74.78 percent, an increase of 0.70 percentage points compared to August 2023. The working population of D.I. Yogyakarta was 2.18 million people, or an increase of 43.06 thousand people compared to August 2023. The employment sectors that experienced an increase in the percentage of workforce absorption were mainly in the Manufacturing Industry (3.37 percentage points), Government Administration, Defense and Compulsory Social Security (0.34 percentage points), and Transportation and Warehousing (0.18 percentage points). Meanwhile, employment sectors that experienced a decrease were mainly in Wholesale and Retail Trade (1.10 percentage points); Provision of Food and Beverage Accommodation (0.65 percentage points); and Education (0.65 percentage points). In August 2024, as many as 1.02 million people (46.88 percent) worked in formal activities or increased by 0.66 percentage points compared to August 2023 which was 46.22 percent. The percentage of full-time workers in August 2024 was 69.08 percent or increased by 1.88 percentage points, while half-employed were 5.55 percent or decreased by 0.07 percentage points and part-time workers were 25.37 percent or decreased by 1.81 percentage points compared to August 2023. The Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) in August 2024 was 3.48 percent, decreasing by 0.21 percentage points compared to August 2023 (3.69 percent).
