Abstract

In August 2024, year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation in the Special Region of Yogyakarta Province was 2.33 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 105.87. Gunungkidul Regency was recorded to have experienced y-on-y inflation of 2.32 percent with a CPI of 105.01 and Yogyakarta City experienced y-on-y inflation of 2.33 percent with a CPI of 106.91.

Inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in most expenditure group indices, namely: food, beverages, and tobacco group by 4.26 percent; clothing and footwear group by 2.29 percent; housing, water, electricity, and household fuel group by 0.55 percent; household equipment, tools and routine maintenance group by 1.24 percent; health group by 2.79 percent; transportation group by 1.07 percent; recreation, sports and culture group by 1.99 percent; education group by 2.05 percent; food and beverage/restaurant provision group by 0.85 percent; and personal care and other services group by 7.84 percent. Meanwhile, the information, communication, and financial services group experienced a decrease in the index by 0.25 percent. The month-to-month (m-to-m) inflation rate in August 2024 was 0.05 percent and the year-to-date (y-to-d) inflation rate in August 2024 was 0.58 percent.
